June 8, 2026 (YESTERDAY!!!!)
The day I met Honey.
I adopted him from my local humane society, and if I'm being honest, I don't think either of us knew our lives were about to change.
The moment I saw him, something clicked.
Sometimes you choose a pet.
Sometimes they choose you.
Honey absolutely chose me.
Within hours of bringing him home, I was completely smitten.
Actually...
I think it happened in minutes.
Love at First Hop (this is only going to get worse...)
There is something incredibly special about rabbits.
They're curious without being loud.
Playful without demanding attention every second.
Gentle.
Quiet.
Observant.
Honey has this calm little personality that makes every room feel softer just because he's in it.
Watching him explore his new home has been one of the sweetest experiences.
Every tiny hop feels like a little vote of confidence.
Every flop onto the floor feels like him saying,
"I think I'm safe here."
And honestly...
That melts me every single time.
A Whole New World to Learn
One thing I quickly realized is that rabbits are nothing like I expected.
They're incredibly intelligent.
They need space to explore.
They thrive with enrichment.
Their diet is very specific.
Their health depends on things I never would have considered before bringing Honey home.
I've spent hours reading about:
ā¢ rabbit nutrition
ā¢ hay (apparently, hay is basically life)
ā¢ enrichment toys
ā¢ bunny-proofing my house
ā¢ litter training
ā¢ free roaming
ā¢ safe vegetables
ā¢ chewing habits
ā¢ rabbit body language
The learning curve has been surprisingly fun.
Every day I discover something new that helps me become a better bunny mom.
Honey's Home Is Already Changing
If there's one thing I've learned about myself...
When I love something, I love improving its environment.
Honey's home has already started evolving, and I have a feeling it's going to continue evolving for a very long time.
I'm finding new ideas for enrichment.
Better storage for hay.
More natural toys.
Cozier places to nap.
Fun tunnels.
Places to hide.
Places to climb.
I'm quickly realizing that building an enriching rabbit habitat is almost as fun as having the rabbit.
Almost.
Things Honey Has Already Taught Me
Slow down.
Be curious.
Take naps.
Stretch often.
Snack frequently.
Find the sunny spot.
Get excited about fresh greens.
And don't underestimate the joy of sprinting across the room for absolutely no reason.
Honestly...
Those are pretty solid life lessons.
What's Next?
This series is going to document everything.
The wins.
The mistakes.
The things I learn.
The products I love.
Habitat upgrades.
Rabbit care tips.
Funny Honey moments.
And all the tiny milestones that come with raising the sweetest little bunny.
I'm learning right alongside him.
And I couldn't be more excited.
Honey, I don't think you realize it yet...
But I have a feeling you're about to become the tiniest celebrity on my blog.
And I couldn't imagine a better first chapter for Honey Buns.
